The Full Story
About
This website was created as part of my senior project for the Prosper Career Independent Study (PCIS) program at Walnut Grove High School in Prosper, Texas. Under the guidance of my mentor, Dr. Taylor Tillery, I explored a major challenge in the veterinary field: the lack of accessible pet health knowledge and the burden of high emergency vet costs. We developed this site to help pet owners recognize when a situation may not require immediate hospitalization, offering guidance on how to safely care for pets at home or until their regular vet clinic opens. Our goal is to empower pet owners with reliable information, reduce unnecessary emergency visits, and ultimately help families save money while keeping their pets healthy.

About the Creator
Hi! I'm Reese Rayburn, a senior at Walnut Grove High School in Prosper, Texas. As part of the Prosper Career Independent Study (PCIS) program, I collaborated with my mentor, Dr. Taylor Tillery, to address a significant issue in pet healthcare: the lack of accessible information for pet owners and the high costs associated with emergency veterinary visits.

Through this project, I developed this website to empower pet owners with reliable, easy-to-understand resources. Our goal is to help individuals determine when a situation requires immediate veterinary attention and when it might be safe to provide care at home until a regular vet appointment is available. By offering this guidance, we aim to reduce unnecessary emergency visits and help families save money while ensuring their pets receive appropriate care.

Beyond this project, I'm actively involved in various extracurricular activities. I'm a member of the Walnut Grove High School women's golf team, participate in the Principal Advisory Council, and serve as an intern at the Collin County Animal Shelter. These experiences have deepened my commitment to animal welfare and community engagement.

Looking ahead, I plan to pursue a major in Biology, with aspirations of entering the veterinary field. This website represents a meaningful step in combining my passion for animals with my dedication to community service and education.
My Mentor
Dr. Taylor Tillery is a dedicated and experienced veterinarian based in Prosper, Texas. With a passion for both animal health and client education, Dr. Tillery has made it her mission to provide compassionate, practical care while helping pet owners understand how to best support their pets' well-being.

As my mentor for this Prosper Career Independent Study (PCIS) project, Dr. Tillery played a vital role in guiding the research and development of this website. She helped identify a common problem in the veterinary field—the gap in pet health knowledge among owners and the overwhelming cost of emergency care. Her insight, encouragement, and expertise were instrumental in shaping the educational content found here.

Dr. Tillery’s mentorship not only supported the technical accuracy of this project but also inspired me to approach animal care with empathy, clarity, and a focus on preventive knowledge.
